Created this Docky Theme on a whim. This theme is based on/inspired by the look of the Windows 7 Taskbar. That being said, I didn't make it to be a Windows 7 transformation or clone, just a similar look.

This theme is relatively simplistic on its own, and very flat (though that's the look I was going for). To enhance it, I suggest using the Blur Plugin in Compiz with a good Gaussian Blur. Also, the rays of light in the screenshot are being rendered with the Reflection Plugin of Compiz and the "Reflex-Vista" reflection contained in this Compiz Reflection Pack.

I currently have the reflection set to only show on Docky. To do this:

  • Add "class=/usr/lib/docky/Docky.exe" to the Window Match field.

  • For Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, you may need to use "class=Docky" instead. If all else fails, just use the window grab method and click on Docky

  • Set "Reflection for Windows" to On

  • Set "Reflection for Decorations" to Off

  • Set "Moving Reflection" to On.

Also, this theme looks really spectacular in 3D mode (and that was actually a complete fluke, as I designed it for 2D mode).

The easiest way to install this theme is by using the "Install" button in the Docky settings dialog (next to the theme selection). Alternatively you can manually extract the files to:

  • "~/.local/share/docky/themes" for just one user or

  • "/usr/share/docky/themes" for a system wide installation.

First, I have to say, that is a really awesome theme. Second, which is an off-topic note, when I was looking through your description, you said something about Docky.exe? I thought maybe it was a typo, so I navigated to the directory only to find that you were right. ...What the heck is .dll files and .exe files doing on a Linux system? Can someone explain this madness???

this is nice! I do agree that a round corner for 3d version will look nice though.

Great job man! Using this right now. A rounded corner version would be way nicer in 3D.
